We value your money, and we want to deliver value for your legal fee expenditure.
Elizabeth Connolly has been a member of the Law Society of South Australia’s Costs Committee for a number of years, and Connolly & Co provides legal services to other law firms - costing files according to Court Schedules for taxation by the relevant Court, or in the case of a dispute.
However, we also know that legal services are very expensive to provide, and that legal fees are beyond the affordability reach of much of the population. Therefore we are mindful of providing effective, and cost efficient services and we will always advise clients before they engage us, on the basis of our charges and at what rate the services will be provided. We also provide an estimate of the likely end cost of the services. Moreover, we will advise you of any changes in relation to your matter that may affect the cost to you, and we will always obtain your instructions before incurring significant costs that you have not had notice of.
Having said this, we do expect to be paid, just as the plumber, dentist and accountant are paid. We render frequent, detailed accounts, usually monthly, unless agreed otherwise or the work is of short duration. We will usually require you to pay funds into our Trust Account in advance to cover these costs and any out-of-pocket disbursements we incur on your behalf.
